SAFE, HUMANE ALTERNATIVE
TO THE MOUSETRAP AND POISON

Rodents are America’s number one pest problem, destroying millions of dollarsworth of property and carrying potentially deadly diseases, includinghantavirus, plague, salmonella, and more. With fall just around the corner,it won’t be long before rats and mice get cold, and come inside for warmth, food and water. Over 85% of all American households have an intermittentrodent problem. A whopping 40% have on-going, chronic rodent infestations. Howcan you be sure your home doesn’t become home to a family (or two, or three)of those pesky little critters? You need to take preventative measures now.

Everything you’ve always wanted to know about the sex life of a rodent . . .but were afraid to ask.

Mousetraps and poisons only provide a temporary solution to rodent control. Why? Because rodents, unlike humans, will limit their population to theavailable food and shelter supply. This point of saturation is called the"carrying capacity" of the environment.

Here’s how it works:

Rodents move into your home for food and shelter. Killing them with traps andpoisons can temporarily lower their populations. However, the loweredpopulation will actually trigger an increase in rodent fertility andreproduction to a level that is consistent with the available food andshelter in your home. So, more rodents will appear to take the place of theones you’ve killed. It’s an unending cycle. Traps and poisons simply don’tchange rodent behavior over the long-term.

Introducing high frequency sound (ultrasound), which repels rodents bycreating a hostile environment they won’t tolerate, makes your home unlivablefor rodents and removes a potential food and shelter source for them, loweringthe "carrying capacity." Rodents, in turn, will decrease reproduction to adaptto this decrease in available food and shelter. An electronic rodent repeller, which uses ultrasonic technology, can break this cycle and can control rodentpopulations over the long-term.

An example of the technology in the marketplace to repel rodents humanely, isthe PestChaser® Electronic Rodent Repeller by Sonic Technology Products, Inc.The PestChaser is a safe, humane, and inexpensive way to keep rodents out ofyour home. The PestChaser uses very loud high frequency sound in a range theycan hear (but people and non-rodent pets can’t hear) to repel the rodentsrather than kill them. You just plug it in, and literally forget it. It worksfor years to remind rats and mice why they don’t want to live in your home.

Besides being more humane, a device such as an electronic rodent repeller is asafe alternative to poisons and traps. Besides being extremely unpleasant, when traps are used there is a dead rodent to dispose of, exposing you torodent borne diseases. Children and pets can accidentally ingest poisons, endangering their health and/or lives. These poisons can also get into ourwater supplies and endanger us all. With an electronic repeller, there are noharmful side effects for us, our children, or our non-rodent pets.

A word of caution to users of electronic pest control devices: If you have adog or cat, make sure the repeller you use broadcasts in a frequency range ofat least 30 kHz. There are some repellers on the market that broadcast as lowas 20 kHz, which could very well be agonizing for your dog or cat. ThePestChaser® broadcasts from 32 to 62 kHz, which will not be heard by yourpets.
