Electromagnetic fields (EMFs) which are generated by electrical currents and constantly present in the environment by way of power lines, computer monitors, home appliances, poor home wiring, etc. should be addressed by everybody at some point. Although the amount of exposure necessary to cause harm has not been determined, the Office of Technological Assessment of the United States Congress has taken the position that prudent avoidance is the best policy when it comes to these fields.
The use of a gauss meter, is simple, quick, and an interesting investigative task. Once you own a gauss meter, you will be able to measure your environment throughout the year as fields vary with weather conditions and electrical loads in the distribution grids. Situations that are common which will be easily identifiable by the use of such a device have to do with improper grounding of electrical wiring in homes especially in older areas and the presence of electrical panels or switching boxes that are hidden away and to which you can be exposed on a constant basis.
