Women say NO to GMOs

Posted by Boni Sones

Made the supermarkets label the shelves
Made the Government embarrassed
Women said "No" to GMOs
They paraded at the organic picnic
Chose to choose from the supermarket shelves
They said "No"
Take care,

Nature is so precious
Treat her carefully,

Honour her,

Respect her,

Nature friend of women,

Earth born her beauty,

Her hills and valleys
Her most precious flowers,

Purple, blue, a hairbell, the heather,

Green bracken and hills
Sheep grazing,

But don't cross pollinate,

Don't leave your science to chance,

Women, we women, as one voice, say "No" to GMOs
We love and respect you dear nature,

Love your embrace of us,

Us of you
Your hills and valleys,

Your wildlife,

Your creations
Don't turn them, through us, into monsters,

"Wait", we plead,

"Wait", just a little more time
before you turn on us,

the millennium dawning,

don't destroy the most precious of the gifts that the
soil has given us
don't destroy natures jewels,

our earth
our sky,

our land
think first,

wait,

not for profit created,

government's this, and Government's that,

on top of a lakeland hill
I see most clearly
The earth you would create of us
But wait, just a few more years, I plead, and on my
knees I beg,

Please wait,

Before the most joyous beauty of our landscape
Our hills
Our valleys
Our wildlife,

Our sheep grazing,

Are turned forever into another tune
The tune of profits bidding,

Of Government's tides,

Of wanting for us first this, then that,

But nature you know
Has no Government,

No mechanism for its control,

At one with us
And we with it
Don't try and shape, control its tides,

Its ebbs and flows,

Show respect, my friend Joan pleads, a woman scientist,

Show respect she pleads,

And we the women who say "NO" to GMO
Plead with her,

On bending knees, we humbled by nature
Plead for time,

Plead for space
Plead for Government to relent,

To like us, show humility at natures knees,

Bowing before her,

We ask that you let her be left alone,

She like us,

Woman to woman,

We talk we say
But "women, say NO to GMOs."
