THE BEAUTY FACTOR
Beauty is only a concept. Scientifically there is no such thing as beauty. Beauty is not a tangible that can be measured or categorized. It is, like love, immeasurable and elusive. Although the average American has spent many hours longingly gazing at super models and movie stars wishing they could have a little of their glamour, this does not bring beauty closer. Looking at some pictures of celebrities in a fashion magazine the other day I pointed out to my friend that these "stars" really are no more beautiful than the friends I see around me every day. He was adamant that the celebrities were very good looking people, better looking than any we would ever meet. But who says? He says and millions of others say; so is this what makes it so? And why does everybody agree that these are the chosen beautiful people? I have a theory.
Have you ever been in love with someone, or a project, or your self, or some other passion in your life and felt like you owned the world? Felt like you glowed from the inside out? Felt like every piece of clothing you put on was perfect and you couldn't comb your hair wrong? That is because you did glow in those moments. These celebrities believe in themselves and then others believe in them and then a lot of people. What starts out as seeing the beauty in another human being unfortunately transforms into a type of exclusivity that may make others feel undervalued.
A friend of mine and I were looking at some pictures over the last couple of years and we came upon some of her during a period in her life when she had just made an empowering change. In these photographs she was absolutely stunning. Her eyes were sultry and deep with meaning. Her stance was confident and yet full of the strength of compassion. These photos were of a great beauty. She sighed when she saw them and wished she still looked that good. These photos were only about a year old. Her physical appearance had not changed in the last year. She was just shining at that time in her life. These photos are scientific proof that our beauty starts in our minds and our hearts. This is great news.
So pamper your mind, heart and soul. Love as much as you can so it shines from your eyes and sings from your pores. Strive for harmony and peace. Love your self just the way you are and your soul will do the rest. You are already beautiful, as beautiful and as glamorous as any other person out there. I don't care how much you weigh, how much money you make, or if you have something different about your body. You are beautiful. Remember, at one time being a full figured woman was extremely sexy. You can bet some self confident chickie at that time made it cool to be just like her.
Wishing you happiness on a happy planet.
