MAYTAG'S NEPTUNE WASHER
SAVES MONEY & RESOURCES

Clean Clothes: The Maytag Neptune washer provides consumers with improved cleaning due to its revolutionary design. Preliminary tests against conventional washers show the washer does a better job of removing tough stains such as grass, blood and even ring-around-the-collar. Unlike most conventional top-load washers, high-efficiency washers don't have an agitator, the mechanism that cleans clothes by pushing and pulling them down into the water. Instead, they wash clothes by tumbling them like a clothes dryer, repeatedly lifting them in and out of a pool of water.

The Maytag Neptune washer uses specially designed drip baffles to improve the circulation of the items in the wash. These strategically placed baffles, which line the interior of the tub, scoop up water and allow it to rain down on the tumbling clothes. This, combined with a greater concentration of detergent, results in improved cleaning.

In Maytag's Neptune washer, detergent, bleach and fabric softener safely enter the washload through an automatic dispenser to ensure that additives enter the washer at the appropriate time. The washer also provides multiple rinses to remove soil, residue and detergent from the wash load.

Specially formulated detergent has been developed for high-efficiency washers, which further improves cleaning. However, unlike most high-efficiency washers, the Maytag Neptune washer accepts regular amounts of standard, off-the-shelf detergent. The oversudsing problem commonly experienced in other high-efficiency washers has been addressed by using varied spin speeds that inhibit oversudsing.

Care of Clothing: Because the tumble action replaces the more aggressive agitation, the Maytag Neptune washer's advanced wash system will extend the life of clothing, making it look newer, longer.

Once the clothes are rinsed, the washer's MaxExtract spin removes up to 30 percent more water from the load than conventional washers. This provides a shorter drying cycle.

Commercial Capacity & Easy Access: When developing the Maytag Neptune washer, engineers knew they needed to offer consumers more than just a washer that improved cleanability and made clothes look newer, longer. So they went one step further and designed a high-efficiency washer with the largest capacity of any residential washer on the market. A spacious tub, coupled with the absence of an agitator, allows the Maytag Neptune washer to easily wash big, bulky items such as ski parkas, comforters and rugs.

Along with capacity comes accessibility, which is captured in the washer's exclusive, ergonomic design. Most importantly, engineers increased the actual tub access, making it the largest in the industry, then tilted the stainless steel tub at a 15-degree angle for improved visibility and reach.

State-of-the-Art Design: The Maytag Neptune washer is constructed with the quality materials and innovative design that consumers expect from Maytag Appliances. In addition to having the largest capacity washer on the market and the largest opening of any high-efficiency washer, the Maytag Neptune washer has the only reversible washer and dryer doors in the industry, providing easy access in any installation.

Engineers determined that what was good ergonomic design for the washer worked with the dryer as well, resulting in the first perfectly matched washer/dryer pair on the market. (See dryer release for details.) Both washer and dryer have porcelain tops with drip-retaining edges to prevent spillage and QuadCoat protection on the cabinet and door to resist scratching. The washer warranty covers one year on all parts and labor, two years on parts, ten years on the drive motor and on rust-through and lifetime on the basket, parts only. The dryer warranty covers one year on all parts and labor, two years on parts, five years on the tumbler and ten years on rust-through.

The Maytag Neptune washer was developed in conjunction with the Electric Power Research Institute. Maytag Appliances is a full-line manufacturer of innovative kitchen and laundry appliances built to last longer. These include washers, dryers, dishwashers, cooktops, wall ovens, ranges and refrigerators.
